Student I.D. Tags
Since the beginning of this school year, we have begun requiring that all students, faculty, and staff at Howell wear photo I.D. badges at all times while on campus. We assure you that is absolutely in the interest of increased security at school. It's very important that we know whether a person actually belongs on the campus in order to keep the students and the faculty safe. We anticipate that this will become a district-wide requirement once the new schools open.
Each student is issued a photo I.D. attached to a safety lanyard to be worn around the neck. The photo I.D. must be visible on the front of the student at all times while on campus (not tucked into the shirt, not stuck in a pocket, hidden in a backpack, or forgotten at home). This is really no different from the usual security requirements at any other large institution in the United States considering the events of the past 10 years or so.
We think you'll agree, as adults who care for children, that the safety of your child at school should be one of our greatest concerns. We appreciate your support with this important program.
